Summary
Summary: National Seniors Submission to Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety National Seniors appreciates the opportunity to respond to Counsel Assisting's final submission to the Royal Commission into Aged Care, Quality and Safety. They support the vision outlined by Counsel Assisting and most of the recommendations put forward. National Seniors emphasizes the need to end the rationing of aged care services by the government to meet budget restrictions. They support a rights-based, demand-driven approach and acknowledge the cost involved, proposing various funding options. Transparency, increased home care services, and a new Aged Care Program are strongly supported by National Seniors. They suggest the establishment of a multi-partisan parliamentary committee to investigate and recommend appropriate funding options. National Seniors also advocate for greater choice and control for older people in decision-making about their care. The use of CCTV cameras in nursing homes for safety and quality of care is supported. National Seniors believe that the reform efforts should not be wasted and urge for collaborative action to ensure a high-quality and safe aged care system.
