Cash mandate submission

In November 2024 Treasurer Jim Chalmers announced the government would seek to mandate that some businesses accept cash for essential purchases. Further details of the proposal were included in the Treasury consultation paper released in December 2024. NSA regards the proposed mandate as far too limited and calls for further support so cash continues to be accepted and accessible, arguments which are detailed in our submission below.
