This submission sets out key recommendations on issues of concern for Tasmanian seniors.

Summary
Summary: Tasmanian Budget Submission 2021-22 Health: Urgent need to improve emergency department waiting times to meet national targets. Housing: Address homelessness among vulnerable seniors, with a significant increase in recent years. Ministerial responsibility for seniors’ issues: Expand Minister's role to include specific responsibility for seniors. Transport: Review public transport services for affordability and accessibility for older Tasmanians, provide free off-peak and weekend travel. Employment and skilling: Fund development of a dedicated reskilling program for over-50s, remove age-based restrictions in Workers Compensation Scheme. Free non-peak travel for seniors: Proposal for free travel on public transport for seniors during non-peak periods to address multiple issues and improve accessibility.
